Process of Sputum Testing on Tuberculosis for Australian visa applicants

1.The hospital or clinic administering the physical examination issues the Application Form of Sputum Testing for Tuberculosis to the applicants (Please download the appendix).
2.The applicants need to make an appointment in advance for collecting sputum sample by telephone or on-site reservation.
3.The applicants are asked to the given area of Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center for collecting sputum sample according to the date and time of reservation.
4.Usual time of receiving the results of sputum smears and cultures is 8-10 weeks. Positive M. tuberculosis cultures shall undergo drug susceptibility testing (DST) .
5.The results will be emailed to the referring site.
