Process of Sputum Testing on Tuberculosis for UK visa applicants

1.Referral letter for applicants thought to have active pulmonary TB (please download)
2.Applicants shall make reservation in advance for collecting sputum sample by telephone (62699006) or on-site reservation.
3.The applicants are asked to the given area of Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center for collecting sputum sample according to the date and time of reservation.
4.Usual time of receiving the results of sputum smears and cultures is 8-10 weeks. Positive M.tuberculosis cultures shall undergo drug susceptibility testing (DST).
5.The results will be emailed to the referring site.
