Procedure and Notice of sputum testing on tuberculosis

1.The applicants receiving the application form for sputum testing need to make reservation by telephone or on-site reservation.
Department of Administration: Immigration health check department, Shanghai International Travel Medical Center.

2.The applicants may receive the sputum collection according to the reservation. Sputum collection area: 2F, Building4, No 15 Jinbang Road, Shanghai.
3.Original passport or ID card and 1 copy of passport or ID card and 1 piece of photo are requested.
4.The applicants should wear a mask whenever coming for the purpose of sputum testing.
5.Making arrangements in advance for the sputum examinations that shall require the supervised collection of sputum samples on three consecutive days is suggested.
6.The cost of the sputum examination is 1175 RMB (cash only). The payment should be made on the first day of collecting sputum samples.
7.Usual time of receiving the results of sputum examination is 8-10 weeks.
8.The reports will be emailed to the referring hospital or clinic.
9.The points of attention regarding the sputum examination:
1)Keeping the oral cavity clean and in fasting condition. Please brush your teeth carefully in the morning.
2)Drinking more water prior to the sputum collection.
3)Covering the mouth with tissues during the process of the sputum examination.
4)Sitting straight and allowing the shoulders to relax. The sputum specimens should be from the bottom of the lung to the oral cavity. Deep coughing is preferably exact mode.
5)Sputum specimens of 10ml.
6)Taking a short break after each coughing.
7)The nasal excrements are not qualified for testing.
